Refund Request
Preparer Information and Basis for Refund
Partial Refund Request
We guarantee that the deed will be in the proper format for recording (assuming no issues with user-entered data). When the form is properly formatted and matches the decisions made in the interview, we cannot offer a full refund for the following reasons:
- Our products are digital so, unlike a physical product, they cannot be returned to us for a refund.
- There are incremental costs to us for each deed assembly, including both licensing costs for the software and overhead associated with responding to requests like this one.
- Unless we monitor the land records (which would be impractical), we have no way of knowing whether the deed is ultimately used. If we offered refunds to anyone who asked, there is nothing to prevent someone from using the software to create a deed, requesting a refund, then filing the deed in the land records.
For these reasons, our policy is to offer a partial refund of $30.00 when the customer decides not to use the form (for whatever reason) even though there isn't a problem with the form. To claim this refund, you must certify below that you will not record the form or use any part of it to prepare an alternative form. Note that requesting a partial refund will place your account on a list that restricts you from using our service in the future.
Full Refund Request
We guarantee that each deed produced by our online deed preparation service will meet the recording requirements of the law of the state where the property is located. If the recording official refuses a deed due to a problem with the deed and not due to incorrect user-entered data, use the form below to provide evidence for the basis of the recording official's refusal, and we will refund your payment in full.
Important Note: The customer is responsible for customer-entered data. Full refunds are not given for rejections by the recording official due to any of the following:
- Wrong customer-entered data, such as an invalid legal description or using the wrong names on the form
- A customer's failure to understand what type of deed or other legal document the customer needed to accomplish his or her goals
- A customer's mistake about ownership of the property
- A customer's mistake about the federal, state, or local income or property tax consequences of the deed
- A customer's failure to complete any informational or tax forms correctly
- A customer's failure to follow instructions we provide when entering data or when sending the form
Similarly, refunds are not given on the basis that a deed doesn't look like another deed that a customer finds online or has used before. Different deeds prepared by different preparers will look different from each other, and in many cases there is more than one correct way to format a deed. As long as the deed meets the state's legal requirements for formatting, no refund will be given.
